The sunny days spent in San Francisco are days long to be remembered. From the unseasonably warm and fog free days in May, to the romantic night rides on the street cars donated from cities all across the United States. The San Francisco Bay area is a city I will visit again and again because of it's scenery, it's tourists attractions, it's food, and it's delightful people.
During our stay at four different safari lodges in Kenya and Tanzania, it was standard practice to provide a Masai tribesman, equipped with a flashlight and a spear, to escort guests to and from their rooms during darkness for their safety. In seven previous nights, we had not seen anything larger than a lizard, and the escort seemed like a quaint ritual we were happy to entertain.
The early nineties marked a revolution in popular culture. When Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video first aired on MTV, the world as a whole began to shift. The eighties hair metal bands that occupied the charts and radio for so long, had now found themselves with only a fraction of the fan base. As "Grunge" and the Seattle scene became more popular, Pearl Jam was catapulted into the mainstream.
Baseball memorabilia and sports collectibles are becoming more and more popular. Television has really put the spotlight on players, and fans as much information as they can get on those players. Even radio sports talk shows are popping up all over the air waves to appease this thirst for information. This trend seems to be continuing. This will continue to make baseball memorabilia and sports collectibles even more popular, collectible, and costly.

This week, our most distinguished screen actress turns sixty, and looking back on her legacy, we find one of those rare, happy stories of a person with blazing talent setting a high but worthy goal for herself, and fulfilling it. With the start of her film career and eventual stardom all occurring during my pivotal college years, the work of actress Meryl Streep is so embedded in my consciousness that it feels as if I should measure my own milestones by hers.
Thunder eggs, or geodes, are geological rock formations which occur in sedimentary and certain volcanic rocks. They look like regular rocks from the outside, the exterior typically made up of limestone, but then have crystal formations of quartz on the inside. They're referred to as thunder eggs by treasure hunters because they do resemble very large eggs because of their smooth exterior and round shape. If you're interested in any type of treasure hunting you may want to start out with these thunder eggs, or geodes. |
